![]() ![]() Sulyvahn being the first scholar could also explain why the profaned-flame-wielding gargoyles from the Profaned Capital can be found on the archive roofs. On the other hand, it wears Lothric’s Robe of Prayer, which would imply that the statue depicts Prince Lothric rather than Sulyvahn, and if so there is no other proof linking Sulyvahn to being a former scholar of the archives. It wields the Profane Greatsword and wears a bracelet that is very similar to Sulyvahn’s. The evidence for this seems to be a statue on the High Wall, which could be depicting Sulyvahn. There is also speculation that Sulyvahn was the first scholar of Lothric, who convinced Prince Lothric not to link the fire. At some point, he allied with Aldrich, who had “visions of a coming age of the deep sea” and to this end “would devour the gods himself”. He used this flame to arm his troops (description of fire witch set) and eventually used this power to ascend as the leader of Irithyll. From the description of the Profaned Greatsword, we know that, long ago while still a young sorcerer, “he discovered the Profaned Capital and an unfading flame below a distant tundra of Irithyll, and a burning ambition took root within him”. ![]() Let’s start with what we know about Sulyvahn from the base game. I’m late to the DLC party as I spent most of November abroad and away from my PS4, but I played through it this weekend, and here is my speculation for how it connects to the rest of the game and, specifically, Sulyvahn. I'd imagine NPC's/merchants/enemies/bosses would all treat your character differently depending on your status but i'm sure the differences wouldn't be too drastic.īut it's often a bad idea to idealise desired scenarios for souls games as they often don't happen and just build fruitless expectations. If we really do get a Londor DLC it will be fascinating to see how different the experience is playing as a character that has become the Lord of Hollows and one that has not. Ruling over all hollows until the return of the true Lord of Hollows perhaps. Considering what we know about Londor and Kaathe's role in DS1 I'd imagine he would be worshipped as a deity in a place like that. The most plausible situation that Kaathe or another serpent would appear is as a ruling party of the Sable church in Londor. Initially I fantasised about a serpent boss fight and how the different phases would play out (imagine a second phase revealing their true identity as an interconnected hydra, which was a fan theory back in DS1). I'd just love to have them appear to see them rendered in the new engine in all their terrifying glory. What do you think would be the dullest way of reintroducing the serpents? It feels too obvious and overt for Miyazaki now to just play along with expectation and give us exactly what we're hoping for. I'll be bitterly disappointed if Miyazaki wraps up the Dark Souls series after the next DLC without one final reunion (in whatever form), but I just cant see it happening. I love Miyazaki's subtlety when telling a story and its what makes his ability to build a cohesive world work so well but it's definitely time to give us more than whispers and rumours regarding the serpents situation. ![]() But outside of a few very subtle nods in the DLC like the snakes on the church doors, the mural, the serpent statue and the painters reptilian eyes there was once again no sign of our beloved Kaathe (or Frampt). It seemed absolutely certain that FromSoft was getting ready to reintroduce us to the Serpents and their grand schemes once again. DS3 gave me so much hope after seeing the serpent statues around the Grand Archives and hearing Yurias death dialogue outright mentioning Kaathe. I'm aware of all the subtle nods to them in DS2/DS3 and all the DLC but it's just frustrating to not have anything concrete by this point. They are such pivotal characters in the lore and seem to be at the centre of everything in one way or another that it seems like insanity to neglect them entirely. All iv'e ever wanted is more Frampt/Kaathe (or other Primordial Serpents).
